Dear Mr. President,

While I might end up on a secret list of political enemies… I must ask you. Couldn’t you have acknowledged the soldiers that died at Fort Hood today prior to strutting into your conference at the Department of the Interior and giving a “shout-out” to one of your political cronies?  Just a few solemn, quiet words to the families who have lost loved ones not to Al-Quida or the Taliban, but to one of their own?

When you strutted to the podium like Bob Barker strutting to the Showcase Showdown I thought “He must not know. How could he not know?”  Then, after 2-3 minutes of gladhanded banter you finally acknowleged what happened?  Where, sir, are your priorities? Where, sir, is your sense of gravity.  The country was all tuned, in waiting for you to reassure us that the commander in chief was on the job, and you chose to cue the laugh track first.

Please show more respect to the families who lose loved-ones in service to our country, whether here or abroad, the next time we face a horror like this.
